This short neck member of the Mandolin family is commonly found in Bluegrass, Folk and Country & Western music bands. It has a flatback and teardrop shaped body, short neck and 8 strings.

Reproduced here in great detail, this tiny Mandolin is 4 inches long, and comes with a decorative gold thread hanger.
