Start applying the top coat. Again, regular spray paint from the hardware store works just fine on this kind of plastic. Colors used were black and white. Follow the color pattern of the primer. The front of the horse should be black, the hind end and legs white. Paint the front of the head white. Once the base coats of the leg and body colors have been applied, dried and sanded lightly. Build up several coats of top coat. Sand once the paint is dry. |

Legs should be the black, the hind end of the body white. Leave the legs white if the horse is to have white leg markings. Leave the hooves white. |

Pink skin. Mix a small drop of red model paint with paint thinner to make a dilute wash. If you would like, add a bit of brown, and yellow, or a bit of human flesh tone. Now, paint the nose, around the eyes and the genitals with the wash. On a horse with white markings, the skin will show through in areas where the hair is short. This included around the nose, eyes, inside of the ears, underside of the tail and genitals.

Use both black and white spray paint to blend between the black and white areas on the horse. The transitions should be soft, with areas of mixed white and black. On a real horse this would be a mix of black and white hair. The rest of the work on the model needs to be done with model paints. |
