Method #1: Fill in the neck groove. Here's what the first pass looks like. Force the epoxy into the groove, and make sure that there is a layer of epoxy around the top of the neck to stabilize the area. Once the first layer of epoxy has set, apply another layer, and smooth. The top of the neck should be smooth and slightly rounded. This is where the mane will be glued.

Method #2: Carve out the neck groove. Use a double sided file or a rotary tool. Size the neck groove by how thick the mane is going to be. A upright mane needs more hair to look realistic. Apply a layer of epoxy to the edges of the groove, and smooth the inside edge. A craft stick is a good tool for this. The edges should be straight and at right angles to the body.
