The profile has been filled in, the lips have been enlarged, and the cheeks have been thickened, and the chin has been added to. The over all effect is to make the head more horselike and less cute. At any point the head may be sanded and prepared for painting. |

The the thickening of the head, the neck needs to be made more muscular so that the entire horse looks in balance.
To add this level of detail a good horse anatomy book showing the muscles may be useful.
